Realtors Care Foundation provides support for shelter related charities.
Each Year the Toronto Real Estate Board (TREB) supports various shelter related requests for grants from the Realtors Care Foundation. This year twenty shelter related charities were endorsed by TREB and were selected to receive grant awards.
One of the most rewarding things a REALTOR® can do is to help families find a home. The Ontario Real Estate Association (OREA) Foundation works on the same goal through its support of shelter related charities in Ontario. Each year, they help families in need of emergency and permanent housing through charities like Habitat for Humanity, local shelters, and local hospices.
TREB Contributes
In addition to other means of individual member contributions TREB contributes $1.00 per member per month to the foundation on behalf of all TREB Members.
About Realtors Care Foundation
Since its original inception the Foundation has granted more than $2-million, on behalf of the Ontario Realtors® to shelter-based organizations across the province.
Originally founded as the Canadian Real Estate Board Foundation - Ontario Fund in 1967 as part of the Canadian Real Estate Association (CREA) Foundation. The foundation returned in 1978 as a provincial organization and for 21 years grants were made to a variety of charitable organizations across Ontario. In 1999 the decision was made to focus on shelter based charitable organizations.
In 2006 the name of the Ontario Real Estate Association (OREA) Foundation changed to the REALTORS Care Foundation.

The REALTORS Care Foundation is one I give to every year, Kathy. It's something I believe all REALTORS should support.
Sylvie - we all do thru TREB but some like yourself may give in other ways as well.
Kathy, I donate directly to them (sometimes thru something OREA will put on, like the motorcycle trip), as well as thru TREB, and I also buy certain items that contribute a portion to REALTORS Care (like buying wine through the Foundation), etc. Whatever I can afford, I do. :)

What a great way to reach those in need of housing and who better to help supply housing but those who surround themselves with real estate daily! Congratulations to those who support the Realtors Care Foundation, they are making a difference for the better in their community!
Michelle - The foundation supports many different shelter based organizations throughoutut the province from food banks to Habitat for Humanity, community resource and outreach center's, the YMCA and YWCA and various woman's and men's shelters. This year 81 organizations received assistance in various amounts for a total of nearly $300,000.00
